I just found out that one of my primary school friends is coming to Singapore this week! Hopefully I'll get to meet up with him. I also found out that he's learning German, which means that now he can speak 4 languages (he can already speak Indonesian, English, Chinese)! And what's more, he's going to be in Germany during next year's World Cup! I'm jealous! I think I'll ask him to teach me a bit of German haha (though of course the language that I still want to learn most is French). So far I've learnt hast du ein söhn tag (don't ask me how to pronounce it!), which means have a nice day! :)
Anyway, gotta go give tuition now, and it's just stopped raining!

Had bbq with my Chinese class and I had a great time. I love my classmates; they're such fun people! There're 5 Indonesians altogether (including me), 2 Japanese, 2 Koreans, 1 Swiss, 1 English, 1 Phillipino. Even though sometimes I don't know what they're (normally the Japanese and Koreans) talking about, they're still super funny. One of the Japanese is actually a policeman back in Japan but oh my gosh, with his antics, you really really can't imagine him as a policeman!
Anyway, we were all supposed to bring food. And there were really lots of food. Fried rice, lasagna, satays, sausages, corns, prawns, bbq-ed fish with sambal (which was way too spicy for me), burgers, marshmellow, rojak, chocolate-milk pudding with kue bolu. I really ate a lot! It's just a pity that the marshmellow couldn't be roasted until it's crispy cos it melted quickly. But the food was really nice.
I was just eating the leftover rojak just now and I'm definitely addicted to the peanut sauce (which is peanut mixed with sambal). It's just yummy! Very sinful though. I definitely have a weakness for peanut sauce. On Monday, I had gado-gado for lunch and of course, there's the peanut sauce, and I couldn't stop eating it. All these peanuts are going to make me fat. Seriously. I need to lose a little weight before I go cos I'm pretty sure I'm gonna put on a lot more over there (but I heard the food there sucks, so maybe I won't put on so much=p).
Anyway, I think I'm watching too much Wimbledon. I'm watching so much that I'm compromising my sleep. Not good. So maybe my mum was right.. Haha but Wimbledon is my favourite tennis tournament! Anyway, there're so many talented youngsters playing at Wimbledon, it's really insane! And they're just about my age or younger even! Federer and Williams, who are just 23 and are already considered veterans. You can even consider Sharapova a veteran and she's only 19. It's really insane! Talking about Sharapova, her tennis shoes have diamonds on them! Wow! Apparently Federer's shoes have diamonds too.
I've to memorise a poem for my Chinese class. I'm thinking how useless this is haha. But yesterday, after the bbq and we were all waiting at the lobby area, we spotted the poem written on like a mini-carpet used for decoration. So maybe it ain't that useless huh? But I still think it is haha.

Was quite surprised yesterday when I received a letter from NUS, telling me I've been accepted into USP. I know I should be happy, but I can't help feeling cynical about it. Didn't they know that I've already rejected my acceptance offer to NUS? Chris got his USP acceptance in May and I heard that apparently they were opening a second round of applications cos they felt that the applicants weren't qualified enough. So I get the impression that I'm accepted cos they don't have enough people for the program. Oh well it doesn't matter to me anymore, does it?
My dad was here over the weekend and he brought us to have dinner at Tony Roma's last night. Oh my gosh.. I ate a lot a lot a lot! It was unbelievable. We ordered a full flab of fried onion rings, a combo meal (got ribs, chicken, sausage and 4 side orders) and another half-slab of ribs (which includes another 2 side orders). And we totally forgot that it was American portion. I forced myself to eat and eat. Haha felt so fat after that. I'm in desperate need of exercise now. Luckily, Huiling is at my house now and we're going to swim later haha.
I've been really busy this week, and I'm feeling quite tired now. Weird sleeping hours again. I still have tests on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I didn't know it can be so stressful. At least Wimbledon is starting tomorrow (uh-oh..that means more tv!). I'm looking forward to it!

Finally got my visa approved today :) will probably be able to get it next week. Going to US embassy this morning was an.. interesting experience. When I got there, I had to give the woman at the front counter the letter from the embassy and my IC. Then had to scan my bag and stuff. Tight security check huh. After that, I went in and walked along this long corridor. I felt quite intimidated walking along it; maybe it's cos it's surrounded by high barricades, and the corridor was really really quiet. Then after that I came to this door and the notice on the door told me to wait until the security guard signalled at me to enter. So the security guard signalled at me after that, but at that time, I saw someone coming out from the building so I tried to go in through the same door the person came out from. The security guard straightaway pointed that the door I was trying to go in from was actually the exit door and not the entrance door! Haha what was I thinking of? Ok anyway after that, I had to pull the lever on the door down and push the door, but it was soooo heavy. Gosh.. then there were 2 Caucasian guys standing around the door at that time, and they were like, "Push harder push harder" haha. Then after that I went into the room and had to take a number. Now, my idea for the interview was a normal interview, like you sit in a room kind of interview. Only when I was waiting did I realize that the interview would be done standing in front of a counter, in front of everyone else waiting in the room, and the interviewer would be standing on the other side of the counter. Quite informal. Anyway, my interview went better than I expected. I think I was lucky in that I got quite a nice interviewer. She actually didn't ask the trickier questions that I expected, like what will you be doing after you graduate, will you want to work in the US, etc. Instead, I was asked, "How's your Chinese?" (I had included a letter saying that I'm learning Chinese after I graduated). Then she also asked, "How're your Chinese lessons? Are they good? Cos if they are, I can recommend it to a few of my friends". Haha I nearly laughed at her questions.. I mean, I found it amusing. Of course she also asked the other usual questions, like my parents, purpose of going there, my uni and major. The interview was really fast.. like about 3 minutes. But it was still an interesting experience to me.
Anyway, went to watch Madagascar with Anna, Saby and Zanet just now. I actually wasn't planning to watch the movie at all, but it's really funny. The characters/animals are just so cute! Going to watch Lost now..

So we have had cable for one week now. My mum shouldn't have worried too much; we only watched slightly more tv, if not the same. I've been watching the French Open, bits and pieces of it. I hope Nadal wins tonight; that guy totally outplayed Federer. I'm waiting for Wimbledon... Anyway, my VCR is totally spoilt and can't be repaired cos the guy said is too ex to repair it. So we have to get a new one, and knowing my mum, it'd probably be some time before we get another one. I can't watch my tapes and I can't tape shows. I can't decide which is worse.. not having cable or not having VCR haha. I should probably be happy with what I have.
Anyway, I ordered a hot milo on Thursday.. and I drank it USING A STRAW. What was I thinking? I must have thought it was iced milo or something. Naturally, my tongue was like burned the moment I took a sip. It still hasn't recovered yet :( On top of that, I have two ulcers under my tongue, so my tongue is in a pretty bad condition now.
Another week has ended, and now it's only like slightly more than 2 months before I leave for US. Excited yet scared at the same time. I better start thinking of what to bring. It's like I want to bring lots of things but obviously I can't. The room will probably be very small; not much space to put your stuff. Plus I think I may have to move out my stuff during the winter break; so troublesome! I've already booked flights and accommodation there. So it'll be Sin-Tokyo-Washington-Pittsburgh for me. I think my uncle may be joining us from Tokyo-Washington. Hope I get to see my little cousins too. Haven't seen them in a really long time!
Erm.. I can't decide whether I should watch Lost. Seems like a nice show, but will I have the time?
