It's been another busy few days, and I'm now down with sore throat. A real bummer! I'd better recover before I go back.

Let's see.. Sunday, had cell as usual in church. We've finished doing Alpha, so we decided to do comparative religion, which is interesting, but very philosophical and cheem. Went for Experiences 2005, a US uni fair, in the afternoon and met Singaporean seniors studying at CMU. Got most of my questions answered and got to know more people there, which is great :) I asked them what they thought of their freshman year, and most of them said "slack" haha. I also realized that I've got to get my textbooks first cos they're very ex there, but they're very slow in coming up with my schedule! I've to obviously know which courses I'm taking before I can buy e textbooks! And I must also start thinking of what activities I'm going to do on campus. I think I'm most likely going to play intramural tennis and join ACF (Asian Christian Fellowship), but I'll just see what they have and decide later. Need to email my roommate as well; I really have no idea how to email her. Anyway, had dinner at Newton and tried e chilli crab. I think that was my first time trying chilli crab. Nice but too spicy for my liking haha.

Monday.. was invited for lunch, along with a few others, by a Chinese class classmate at her house. Gosh, I can't even begin to describe how beautiful her condo is. She even has a walk-in lift to her house and a poolhouse! Well, sort of. Anyway, from the way she prepared lunch, I can tell she is used to having guests at her house. Lunch was very delicious, and there was dessert as well. She cooked everything herself (with the help of a maid), and what's more, she managed not to use oil when cooking the food, yet everything just tastes so nice! Had a great time catching up with the others. I just couldn't help but feel the tinge of sadness inside me again. Sigh.

And yesterday, met up with Bernice (finally!) for dinner. I think the last time I saw her was like last year at her birthday party haha. We talked for quite some time and after that, had a rather hilarious time taking pictures ourselves haha. But they turned out great :)

Oh I got my ipod mini on Monday and spent the whole of yesterday trying to charge it. I had to connect it to the computer to charge it cos it didn't come with adaptor (maybe that's why it's cheaper). I just have this feeling that I did something wrongly along the way. You see, when I first put in the CD, they asked me to connect the ipod to the comp, so I did. Once you connect it to the comp, it charges automatically and there's the "Do not disconnect" sign on the screen. But after that there was an error so I had to disconnect it. So the ipod was technically charged for only a few minutes the first time! And I couldn't install the iTunes properly, even though I did it twice. Anyway, after that I connected the ipod again and left it to charge. I thought maybe it'd take about 6 hours, at most, 7. But after 12 hours, it was still charging! I thought it couldn't have been charging for that long and must've been fully charged, so I just disconnected the ipod. And even though the ipod was full batt, the batt is now being used up quite quickly I think. Ugh..and they say the batt life is 18hours. Hope there's nothing wrong with my ipod :(

Today.. met up with Jevelin and Zena, two primary school friends! Jevelin called me on Monday..and she laughed at my Indo! :/ A few weeks back, another primary school friend, Hans, called me and he also laughed at my Indo. I know I've lost most of my Indonesian accent, so when I speak Indo now, it's very Singaporean and super unnatural. My primary school friends who've spoken to me recently said that my voice has changed a lot. Apparently, last time I was super soft-spoken haha. And they all said I'm darker. They said I was very fair last time. I used to be one of the tallest last time, but I think I'm now one of the shortest :( Anyway, it was great to catch up with them again. Haven't seen them in like 7 years, even though Zena actually studied in Singapore and I saw her on the plane! Jevelin brought photos from our primary school days and also from the reunion they just had recently. Gosh we looked so cute back then and most of my primary school friends have really changed a lot! Jevelin even kept her autograph book back then in primary school and she told me what I'd written. It was so silly; I laughed till I almost cried. I can't wait to meet the rest when I go back.

I'm actually supposed to go back today, then I postponed it to tomorrow, and this morning, I postponed it to Friday. Haha that's the latest already; I won't postpone it anymore. Sigh..still so many things to do! Think I better sleep early today. Sore throat :(

Happy birthday Huiling! Hope you've had a wonderful day! Will never forget your birthday cos you 'share' it with Beckham haha.

Anyway, I called CMU on Thursday and finally found out my roommate. Her name is Anna Olson, an American who wants to do bio and philosophy. I'm not sure about her; she seems to have different interests from me. Well..let's just see what happens. I think I should probably email her or something. And I got a room which is right at the end of the hallway, right next to the emergency staircase and right in front of the lounge. I don't know whether it's a good or bad room haha. But at least it's somewhat near the bathroom, not like right in front of it!

Went to Sim Lim yesterday looking at ipods and notebooks. In the end, I decided to order my ipod online. Can't believe that it's actually cheaper that way haha. My first time ordering something online! As for the notebook, I'd thought that I'd probably get it over there, but I think I may end up getting it here instead. Still not sure.

Time really flies by so quickly nowadays. And yes, I still haven't started packing. I'm just plain lazy to do it, so I'd find something else to do, like going online haha. But there's so little time left.. I'm going back next week, then coming back again 2 weeks later. Which leaves me with about 1.5 weeks left here to pack my stuff. Bleah.

Anyway, I was looking at the photos taken with my Chinese class pple, and under one of the photos, my friend put the caption as "Vivien and the carrot cake"! Haha that made me laugh. It's just so corny!

I've finally finished my Chinese course. I can't believe that it's so fast..7 months of classes have ended. No more going to Chinese class, and someone just reminded me that I'm 3 weeks away from leaving (which reminds me I haven't done my packing). Anyway, I didn't think I'd say this last time, but I really do miss my Chinese class. The teachers which are really helpful and nice, interesting and funny class conversations, eating together at the coffeeshop downstairs (and being late for classes haha), and of course, my wonderful classmates. I think I'm quite lucky to get such a wonderful bunch of people as my classmates this time, partly because there're many Indonesians and they're only slightly older than me. I think we're a really close class, considering the circumstances. We did so many things together as a class, like having lunch, bbq, bowling, pool, dinner, taking neoprint, and the ktv-ing last night. Last night was really fun and I was almost in tears when I had to leave early. They're gonna have another outing tonight, but I probably won't be able to go, so last night was the last time I'd probably see most of them. I hope we can all still keep in touch. At least the Indonesian gang have promised to meet up when we're all back in Jakarta. Can't wait for that.

On a sidenote, my Chinese exams this week were ok. Actually, I don't really care much, cos exams wasn't the purpose of me studying Chinese. But then again, if I do badly, I'd feel bad cos I'd feel like I've wasted my parents' money. And I met up with Ai Lian and Sin Hui yesterday. It was wonderful seeing them again. Haven't seen them in a while. We had a lot of catching up to do. After hearing their orientation stories, I can't help but wonder how mine is gonna be like. I hope I can fit in there, in a society with such a different culture. I'm just worried that if I don't do certain things that I don't want to, I'm gonna be perceived as an antisocial. Or rather, as an outcast. It's gonna be hard to change someone's initial impression of you. Oh well.. no use worrying I guess.

On another sidenote, I want to know my roommate badly. I want to know if she's American (most likely) or Asian or American Chinese, etc. And there's this website called the facebook, where maybe you can find her pix and profile or something. I know, it doesn't make much of a difference whether you know or you don't know your roommate early. But I just want to know. I think I should call them to ask, but I'm too lazy to call. But since I have to fax something over there tonight, I think I may as well call.

Ok I think I'm getting quite crappy and rambly again. My cousins from Surabaya are staying over here. I'm not really close to them cos we seldom meet, but I think it's quite bad not to talk to your cousins at all. Which is why I think I should go watch movie with them and my bro tonight.

Oh well..I think I'm falling sick. Feeling feverish. I think it's cos of the KTV last night. I hope I'm ok. Cos now I'm going off to go KTV with Sin Hui (finally!). Oh ya I managed to sing Lao Shu Ai Da Mi haha, the chinese characters aren't that hard. And tried to sing An Jing, but there're still words I couldn't read haha.

Paint my love
You should paint my love
It's the picture of a thousand sunsets
It's the freedom of a thousand doves
Baby you should paint my love

I was wrong..they said they're just going to mail out the room assignment on 15 July, so I still don't know yet who my roommate is. I wish they'd email me..I hate the suspense!

Went back to HC yesterday for Awards Day. It was ok..quite nice to see my friends again after a long time. In formal attire no less. But we had to sit in alphabetical order, which was quite sucky. I sat between 2 guys, whom I didn't know, and they knew each other, so it was pretty weird. All of us got a plaque each, with your name written on it, quite nice. Of course those with 2 S-paper distinctions got better plaques.

LOVE SONG (Third Day)

I've heard it said that a man would climb a mountain
Just to be with the one he loves
How many times has he broken that promise
It has never been done
I've never climbed the highest mountain
But I walked the hill of calvary

Just to be with You I'd do anything
There's no price I would not pay
Just to be with You I'd give everything
I would give my life away

I've heard it said that a man would swim the ocean
Just to be with the one he loves
But all of those dreams are an empty emotion
It can never be done
I've never swam the deepest ocean
But I walked upon the raging sea

Just to be with You I'd do anything
There's no price I would not pay
Just to be with You I'd give everything
I would give my life away

I know that you don't understand the fullness of my love
How I died upon the cross for your sins
And I know that you don't realize how much that I gave you
But I promise I would do it all again

Just to be with you I've done everything
There's no price I would not pay
Just to be with you I'd give everything
Yes, I gave my life away

It's gonna be a busy day tomorrow, and a busy week ahead. My last week of Chinese class next week..which means exams! All of us slackers have been diligently doing homework for the past few days haha.

Only 1 more month left before I go..pretty fast huh? I still feel there're so many things I haven't done yet, but now there's so little time. Just realized that tonight or tomorrow morning, I'll probably know my roommate..hope I get a good one.

David Beckham is staying at Shangri-La Hotel! I'm not a huge fan of his anymore, but the presence of a star footsteps away from my house makes me quite excited hee! And I think Ian Thorpe is in Singapore too? Gosh his hair is now black and he looks horrible! He's supporting New York, but I think it'd be either Paris or London who'll win. I just realized that if Paris wins, then the tennis matches will be played at Roland Garros (where the French Open is); if London wins, it'll be at Wimbledon; if New York wins, it'll be at Flushing Meadows (where the US Open is played). Not bad huh.. venues of 3 grand slam tournaments. Now let me think again.. Pittsburgh to New York is supposed to be a 10-hour train ride. Will I be able to go to New York to watch the US Open this year?

Anyway, I just did my Calculus Placement Test. I didn't do too badly, considering that I was doing it quite late at night. It's really irritating you know. The deadline for the test is 6th July and I just received info on it yesterday. Bleah.. I can't believe that it really takes 3 weeks to mail something from there to here! The deadline to submit the course registration forms is also 6th July. At least I can fax the forms over, but you register on a first-come-first-serve basis. How unfair! Luckily, I sort of know what courses I want to take. I just need to decide whether I want to take Physics or Chem for the first semester, and freshman seminar or the distribution course (taking courses outside your major; some of the courses look cool!) There are way too many choices for the distribution courses; was quite confused reading them just now. Oh well, I'll be taking 6 courses I think. Hopefully, I can get credits for at least 2 of them. But I just realized that even though I know what courses I want to take, I haven't really looked at the "finer details" yet (was too lazy to). Like for a few of the courses, the fall and spring courses are taught by diff profs, so I need to find out which profs are good. Then need to make sure my course is balanced, like not too many humans courses or something. I also haven't looked at the course schedule yet. Just downloaded it just now. Wow I really have a lot to do in one day huh? Just realized that I need to buy textbooks too. Oh gosh!

Hmm.. decided to buy the ipod mini in the end. The 6GB one. I was quite tempted to buy the 20GB one cos the price was not that much different. Plus now it's full-colored display (so can store photos inside). But I don't think I need so much space. Oh ya now if I buy a Powerbook, I can get ipod mini for free (new Apple promotion for students)! I was telling my mum about it, but she wasn't swayed at all! I think she's really against me getting Powerbook. I also don't know if I should be getting it. I think I'll most likely end up getting the Thinkpad.

I need to sleep now. I think it doesn't make much of difference that Wimbledon is over, does it? I still sleep late! And someone told me the dark rings around my eyes are quite prominent. Ugh my mum is gonna be here in 2 days. She's so gonna know I've been sleeping late la!

There's some drilling going on at my neighbour's house. It's really irritating! I'm trying to play music as loud as I possibly can, but it's not helping much. Grrr.. really irritated. Now I can't have my nap.

Anyway, I spent almost like the whole day yesterday watching badminton and tennis matches. Yup, Wimbledon is now over. Probably a good thing too cos now I can maybe sleep earlier. Anyway, last night's match, no surprise that Federer won. I wanted Roddick to win, but I knew Federer would. He totally outclassed Roddick. The match was so much faster than I'd thought it would be (I was thinking it would go to 4 sets), it's even faster than the women's singles final! The women's singles, I'd expected Venus to win, after seeing how she beat Sharapova in the semis. Of course I wanted Sharapova to win, but Venus played better. That match was like a catfight. Both whacked the balls so hard, yet they could still scream whenever they hit a shot. Apparently, quite a few of the people who watched the match live brought earphones with them. Haha. It was really that loud. Anyway, I'm more determined than ever now to watch Wimbledon live haha. Hopefully, if I go there one day, I'll still be able to see the current players that I like.

Badminton matches were exciting too. I only watched the men's singles and men's doubles (for obvious reasons). Was so happy Taufik won! The match was, again, so much faster than I'd thought it would be. I didn't know it was going to be so one-sided! The men's doubles was really really exciting. Gosh.. the players' reflexes are so fast! There was one point in the match which I thought was really really funny. In the middle of a rally, one of the Indonesian players (I think it was Candra) actually ran to the side and changed his racket and ran back to the court again! It happened in a flash, but it was really hilarious! Haha I mean I've never seen anything like it. My brother, who has the season ticket (thanks Zhimei for the tix!), went to the stadium practically everyday. Of course he was supporting Indo; he got the Indo flag with him haha. Yesterday, he actually managed to get pictures of Taufik, Sigit and Candra. But not their autographs haha.

Anyway, I know I definitely have a lot of things to do. It's only like 1.5 months left before I go. I have to pack my stuff, buy stuff, think of my course schedule, learn to cook (yup!), think of which laptop I wanna get, etc etc. I know there're so many things to do. But yet I'm just slacking now. Bleah I just know that my packing would probably be so last-minute! At least now I know that I get to stay in my first-choice dorm, so yah that's good news :)
